  Stay Away From Pacific Smiles Dental!
  
  I went to Pacific Smiles Dental at Burleigh Heads earlier this year for a check up and clean. The location in the shopping centre was very convenient for me and I was fairly happy with my first appointment. However, when it came time for my next check up it was an entirely different story.
  
  I had a new dentist who seemed capable and who told be that there was dental work which urgently needed to be done. This was quite a shock as the previous dentist, who I had seen only a few months before, had never mentioned any causes for possible concern. After discussing my concerns with staff I was informed that my original dentist no longer worked for the company as his clinical practises were not at a good enough standard. Understandably, I was very upset to hear that not only wasn't my first dentist a proficient dentist but that I was not informed about this by the Pacific Smiles until I was faced with the outcomes of his inability.
  
  Who knows whether I would have come in for another appointment if Pacific Smiles had informed me of the dismissal of my original dentist. But in a day and age were patient autonomy is the cornerstone of healthcare, I would have appreciated the choice.
  
  If this experience wasn't bad enough, Pacific Smiles added insult to injury when I went to get my health fund rebate for my check up. Despite being told repeatedly that Pacific Smiles was a HCF preferred provider and that as such my check up would be given without a gap, after lodging my claim with HCF I found out that I had once again been deceived by the team at Pacific Smiles Dental. Not only was the second dentist I had not on the list of HCF 'no gap' dentists (only one dentist at the company was listed), but my check up consisted of treatments which are only covered for once a year. I was very disappointed with this as Pacific Smiles new all of the treatments I had received earlier in the year and would have reasonably known fundamentals of HCF policies.
  
  Overall, not only did Pacific Smiles lack all communication skills, and professional courtesy, their deceptive billing practises left me out-of-pocket. It's suffice to say that I have now found another local dentist to correct my dental problems and will never be returning to Pacific Smiles Dental ever again.
